PARK TWP. — Three children and their mother, feared endangered earlier Saturday, May 3, have been found safe in Missouri and are in protective custody.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the suspicious disappearance of the woman, identified as 50-year-old Michelle Lynn Olszewski of Park Township, and her children, aged 8, 10 and 14, on Thursday, May 1. Police learned Olszewski removed the children from school on Wednesday, April 30, and left Michigan.
Her rental car and belongings, police said, were located at a hotel in Indiana. Olszewski and her children hadn’t been seen at or near the hotel since Thursday. Investigators in Ottawa County and the Mishawaka Police Department in Indiana found evidence Olszewski might be mentally unstable, and has a history of mental instability.
Several hours after issuing a release Saturday, OCSO was notified that authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, had located Olszewski and her youngest son, 8. The whereabouts of the other two children remained unknown until around 6 p.m. — when police announced the entire family had been found.
