A 24-year-old man shot dead in Wilmington on May 16 has been identified by city police as Cashis Boston.
There’s been no report of who shot Boston.

Boston was in Wilmington’s West Center City neighborhood on May 16 when police said he was shot a little before 5 p.m. while in the 700 block of W. Sixth St.
This is the block between William “Hicks” Anderson Community Center and Helen Chambers Park.
After officers found Boston suffering from gunshot wounds, he was taken to an area hospital, where he died.
Wilmington shootings
Despite the May 16 incident, the number of people shot in Wilmington continues to drop.
Boston is the 23rd person to be shot in Wilmington and the fifth person to die from gunfire so far this year.
At the same time last year, 37 people had been shot in Wilmington — that’s a nearly 38% drop. The number of people fatally shot over the same period last year, however, is up by one.
Wilmington ended 2024 with 101 people shot, 17 fatal — a year that saw fewer people shot, but more who died from gun wounds than the previous year.
