The death of an elderly woman in her Yonkers apartment is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
The 79-year-old’s body was discovered by a superintendent at Bronxville Ridge, 828 Bronx River Road, on the afternoon of May 16.
Police responded on a call of an unattended death but subsequent investigation identified injuries “consistent with assault” that were not immediately apparent, police spokesman Detective Sgt. Frank DiDomizio said.
The superintendent of the building told News 12 that he found the woman lying on the floor after a plumber reported that she wasn’t answering his phone calls.
The death is being investigated by major case detectives. Police have not released the woman’s name and details about when she was last seen were not available.
