Akron Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that took place Saturday evening in a residential area near the Sand Run Metro Park.
Authorities say officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1600 block of Cromwell Drive around 8 p.m. May 11.
Lt. Michael Murphy said officers found a 52-year-old male victim with critical injuries.
The victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The name of the victim was not released.
Murphy said a suspect “who is known to the victim” fled the scene.
“The investigation is in its preliminary stages,” he said in a statement.
