It’s officially road construction season in Fort Collins.
Summertime means there’s road construction and orange cones at almost every turn in Fort Collins — largely because that’s when the weather conditions are right for construction work and the city doesn’t have to plan around Colorado State University or Poudre School District traffic.
Below is a guide to the road and trail construction planned in June and July:
Major road construction, closures
Southbound Timberline Road closed June 16-20
Southbound Timberline Road will be closed between Vine Drive and Donella Court (just north of Mulberry Street/Lincoln Avenue) for asphalt repairs. Northbound Timberline will remain open.
Closure: June 16-20
Detour: Take Vine Drive to Lemay Avenue or the Interstate 25 frontage road to Mulberry Street. Local access will be available via Mulberry Street or Lincoln Avenue using the northbound lane.
Northbound Timberline closed June 23-27
Northbound Timberline Road will be closed between Vine Drive and Donella Court (just north of Mulberry Street/Lincoln Avenue) for asphalt repairs. Southbound Timberline Drive will remain open.
Closure: June 23-27
Detour: Take Mulberry Street to Lemay Avenue or I-25 frontage road to Vine Street.
Trilby Road closed at U.S. Highway 287/College Avenue starting July 7
Trilby Road will be fully closed at U.S. Highway 287/College Avenue starting July 7 through spring 2026 for a major intersection reconstruction project. Trilby Road will have no access to U.S. 287 between Shields Street and Lemay Avenue. A temporary traffic signal will be installed at Triangle Drive and U.S. 287 for access to and from the Ridgewood Hills neighborhood.
Two lanes of traffic in each direction will remain open on U.S. 287 during the closure.
Closure: July 7 until spring 2026 (exact reopening date not expected until 2026)

Eastbound/westbound travel on Trilby Road: Take Shields Street or Lemay Avenue to Harmony Road.

Eastbound Trilby Road to northbound U.S. 287: Take Lemay Avenue to Harmony Road.

Eastbound Trilby Road to southbound U.S. 287: Take Lemay Avenue to Carpenter Road (Colorado Highway 392).

Westbound Trilby Road to northbound U.S. 287: Take Shields Street to Harmony Road.

Other road, trail construction this summer
Here’s a list of the other road and trail construction planned in Fort Collins this summer, in order of when the closure begins:
Power Trail closed between Keenland Drive and Trilby Road through August
The Power Trail is fully closed between Keenland Drive and the Trilby Road and Southridge Greens Boulevard intersection for construction of the Siphon Overpass.
Closure: Through August. A reopening date has not been set.
Detour: Take Keenland Drive to Lemay Avenue to Southridge Greens Boulevard.
Laporte Avenue closed at Meldrum Street until August
Laporte Avenue is fully closed to all traffic at Meldrum Street for sewer line replacement.
Closure: Until Aug.1
Detours: Westbound traffic can take Sherwood Street to Maple Street or Mountain Avenue. Eastbound traffic can take Mason Street to Maple Street or Mountain Avenue.
Meldrum Street closed between Mountain Avenue and Maple Street until September
Meldrum Street is closed between Mountain Avenue and Maple Street for utility work involving the wastewater collection system.
Closure: Cross traffic on Laporte Avenue will open after Aug. 1. The segment of road from Mountain Avenue to Laporte Avenue is expected to reopen by Aug. 1. Meldrum Street between Laporte and Maple is expected to reopen Sept. 1.
Spring Creek Trail closed under Timberline Road June 16-20
This portion of the Spring Creek Trail will be fully closed for creek cleanup.
Closure: June 16-20
Detour: Trail users will use nearby paved paths and the sidewalk on the south side of Prospect Road and cross Timberline Road at the Prospect Road intersection.
Westbound Laurel Street closed June 18-20
Westbound Laurel Street will be closed between Stover Street and Remington Street for repaving. The cross streets affected by the closure are Stover Street, Smith Street, Whedbee Street and Mathews Street. Peterson Street will remain open in both directions.
Closure: June 18-20
Detour: Take Stover Street to Myrtle Street to Remington Street.
Doctors Lane closed at Lemay Avenue in June and July
Doctors Lane will close at Lemay Avenue due to construction at UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital.
Closure: June 23-25 and July 3
Detour: Access Hospital Lane from Elizabeth Street.

Eastbound Laurel Street will be closed between Stover Street and Remington Street for repaving. The cross streets affected by the closure are Stover Street, Smith Street, Whedbee Street and Mathews Street. Peterson Street will remain open in both directions.

Linden Street to close in June for events
Linden Street between Walnut Street and Jefferson Street (Colorado Highway 14) for special events.
Closure: June 26 and 28
