Akron police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the McDonald’s parking lot on Merriman Road.
At around 2:16 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, police were called to the 1800 block of Merriman Road on a report that there was a large crowd of people refusing to leave the parking lot of a night club. While there, responding officers heard multiple gunshots coming from the parking lot of an adjacent fast food restaurant.
Officers found Diamond Fisk, 23, who had multiple gunshot wounds.
Fisk was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
“This morning a young man lost his life to gun violence,” stated Lt. Michael Murphy in a media release. “A tragedy has left a family grieving. The Akron Police Department is committed to doing everything in our power to bring justice in this case. Our detectives are already working to gather evidence and investigate every lead. What is equally important is that we come together as a community and take a stand against violence.”
Murphy stated that there were multiple people at the scene.
“We are asking anyone who saw something or knows something to come forward,” he said.
