A 23-year-old Nashville man died of a fatal shooting Friday night in an incident that homicide detectives are investigating as accidental.
The victim, Dontrail Spencer, Jr., died of a gunshot wound after admitting himself at Nashville General Hospital at 9 p.m. on Friday night, a Metro Nashville Police Department news release said. About 20 minutes prior, police responded to a 911 call at a house on Hydes Ferry Road.
There were no individuals in the home when police entered. But police found blood and an AR-style rifle, the police said in a news release. Detectives believe Spencer and several others were inside that home before leaving to bring Spencer to the hospital.
There have been no charges against individuals who police believe witnessed the events that led to Spencer’s death.
