DEERPARK – A woman involved in a domestic incident was shot and killed after she allegedly pointed a handgun at responding state troopers early on the morning of April 12.
State police said they responded to a domestic incident on Forrest Drive in the town of Deerpark around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
When troopers arrived, they found a man on the front porch who said a woman inside was armed with a knife and a firearm.
State police said shortly after that, the woman exited the residence and pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at the responding troopers.
Two troopers discharged their service weapons, striking the woman. The troopers immediately rendered medical aid to the woman and called for an emergency medical services crew.

The woman, who was not identified by state police, was transported to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, where she died from her injuries.
The man involved in the domestic incident suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical services workers. No troopers were injured.
State police said their investigation is continuing. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call their Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-344-5300.
