Local authorities are maintaining patrolling levels through the weekend after a shooting in Midtown this week left nine injured.
After the May 5 shooting near The Collective, the Oklahoma City Police Department has said they’ve found there to be no need for a supplemental presence in Midtown as the department has already anticipated for game days.
“We already have an enhanced presence with the games going on,” Sgt. Gary Knight said. “[It’ll be] nothing different than normal.”
Knight said the department typically has a heightened presence on game days, predominantly in downtown and Bricktown, as those tend to be busier areas.
Restaurants and bars in the area have also noted that they are not adding additional security detail beyond their already-sourced security.
Businesses like Fassler Hall and McNellie’s state they already have security on site and plan to maintain that level through the weekend as the Thunder take on the Denver at Ball Arena.
