One victim died and another was hospitalized following a shooting in a residential neighborhood in Hesperia on Tuesday evening, authorities said.
The gunfire broke out about 6:45 p.m. in the 18800 block of Sheffield Street, just south of Rock Springs Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department logs.
Deputies responded to reports of “shots fired” when they encountered two victims, department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said.

One victim, initially described only as male, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, she said.
A woman was also found suffering from gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said. An update on her condition was not available.
No further details were available as the investigation remained “active and ongoing” according to Orejel.
