LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – It was a colorful way to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture in a vibrant display at Plaza Frida in Little Rock on Saturday.
In the days leading up to Cinco De Mayo, Nitze Chable said practice makes perfect while dancing to celebrate the 1862 Mexican victory in the Battle of Puebla.
“That’s why we wear bold colors. Because there’s a lot of bold colors in Mexico. We don’t want to look dull obviously,” Chable said.
Along with dances like the Jalisco, these people like to celebrate with good food.

One man said he got a torta with fries and roasted jalapeno. Another woman chose food from a different culture.
“I’m trying the mazamorra morada with arroz con leche. Which is a typical Peruvian food,” Raquel Carter said.
Lining the festival are food trucks and booths offering a variety of tasty insights into their cultures. From countries like El Salvador, Colombia, and Peru.
“For us it’s very important to be here because we want everybody to know our culture,” Carter said.
