The NWS warns: “For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Please report damaging winds, hail, or flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 1-800-267-8101, or by posting on our Facebook page, or Tweet it using hashtag nwsgsp. Your message should describe the event and the specific location where it occurred.”
At 1:36 a.m. EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Walhalla, moving east at 45 mph.
HAZARD: 60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT: Expect damage to trees and power lines. Locations impacted include: Mountain Rest, Seneca, Walhalla, Long Creek, Salem, Oconee State Park, Lake Keowee, and Westminster.

At 1:25 a.m., the NWS issued a statement:
” The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for: South central Rabun County in northeastern Georgia, Central Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina, until 2 a.m. EDT. At 1:25 a.m. EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles southeast of Clayton, or 5 miles northeast of Tallulah Gorge State Park, moving east at 45 mph.“
