The National Weather Service in Louisville is predicting chances of severe weather in the coming days with gusty winds, large hail and heavy rain in the forecast.
According to the latest forecast, temperatures could be near 90 degrees in Louisville May 15, the warmest day so far in 2025. Forecasters predict if a storm front develops, it will likely push into southern Indiana and potentially into center Kentucky overnight. A large portion of northern Louisville is under a Slight Risk of severe weather, with scattered severe storms possible, while the remainder is under a Marginal Risk of seeing isolated thunderstorms.
Forecasters said if the system does not develop, there is a possibility of seeing stronger storms May 16, with damaging winds, heavy rain, frequent lightning and tornadoes all possible during the late afternoon and evening hours. Confidence in the current predictions remains low as of May 14, but officials urged residents to monitor the forecast throughout the rest of the week as the system progresses.
