The Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes (GSNWGL) has extended its Girl Scout cookie season to make up for the year’s low sales.
GSNWGL covers 58 counties across northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan including Appleton and Green Bay areas. People in the serviced counties now have until May 18 to make any last minute cookie orders.
This year, overall cookie sales fell short due to unpredictable weather, economic uncertainty, necessary pricing adjustments and other factors, according to a news release.
“Extending the season allows troops to continue earning proceeds that directly support programs, travel and service projects, while providing the community with more opportunities to stock up on their favorite treats,” the news release stated.
From now through May 18 customers can order cookies online and have them shipped, purchase cookies in person and donate cookies through the Cookie Share Program to active military, first responders, food pantries and shelters.
“We’re proud of the effort our Girl Scouts put in this season,” said director of product program at GSNWGL, Christin Stapelmann, in a news release. “Participation remained high, and more girls than ever ran cookie booths across our communities. This extension gives them another opportunity to learn perseverance, teamwork, and problem-solving skills—skills that last a lifetime.”
Appleton-area customers can support Troop 2032 by purchasing directly from its online cookie store for shipping only.
Troop 4135 services the Green-Bay area and is also accepting online orders for cookies for shipping only. There are currently no physical Girl Scout booths in either city.
To find out which troop you can purchase from, use the “Find Cookies” tool on the GSNWGL website. For more information on GSNWGL visit gsnwgl.org.
