Republican rep. Mike Lawler once again faced a night of boos and jeers at a public town hall, after an energetic crowd of about 600 packed the auditorium of Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School in Somers on May 4.
New York state troopers were among the tight security detail at the event, the second of four town halls planned by the congressman in the 17th congressional district, which includes all of Rockland and Putnam counties, as well as parts of Westchester and Dutchess.
Members of the audience asking questions were allowed 30 seconds each. Questions ranged from Lawler’s bipartisanship to hot topics such as spending cuts, tariffs and immigration.
Only members of the media were allowed to record the town hall.
