A large storm system from the northwest was expected to bring cooler temperatures to Arizona starting May 4.
The National Weather Service office in Phoenix said residents should expect a drop in temperature and winds gusting near 5 to 10 mph.
The high temperature anticipated for May 4 was around 78 degrees with mostly sunny skies. The evening temperatures were expected to drop to about 56 degrees with partly cloudy skies and wind possibly gusting around 20 mph.
On May 5, the high temperature was expected to reach 74 degrees with mostly sunny skies and light winds gusting around 5 mph. For the evening, the weather service predicted partly cloudy skies with a low near 58 degrees and wind gusts remaining near 5 mph.
Temperatures are predicted to slightly rise on May 6, with a high temperature expected around 79 degrees, mostly sunny skies, and calm winds gusting around 5 mph. The low expected for May 6th is around 60 degrees, with partly cloudy skies predicted for the evening.
The weather service anticipated a sunny day on April 7 with a high near 85 degrees and winds gusting around 5 mph, bringing temperatures back up to average for the rest of the week.
Will northern Arizona see rain, snow showers?
Flagstaff residents should also feel a drop in temperature starting May 4. The weather service expected the high temperature near 54 degrees and winds gusting between 13 mph and 21 mph with the possibility of gusts reaching 31 mph.
On May 4, there’s a 60% chance of precipitation with a chance of showers before 11 a.m. and likely showers between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. with the possibility of a thunderstorm.
In the evening, temperatures were expected around 26 degrees with southwest winds gusting between 5 mph to 11 mph. There was a 40% chance of precipitation expected in the evening on May 4 with a chance of rain and snow showers before 9 p.m.
The high temperature on May 5 was predicted to be near 46 degrees with winds gusting between 7 mph and 11 mph with partly sunny skies. Snow showers are likely before 1 p.m. Rain showers are likely after 1 p.m. with the possibility of thunder.
The weather service anticipated a chance of rain and snow showers before 11 p.m. with the low temperature forecasted near 27 with mostly cloudy skies, winds gusting around 6 mph, and a 30% chance of precipitation.

The high temperature anticipated was near 52 degrees with partly sunny skies and winds gusting between 5 mph and 10 mph in the morning. The weather service said there was a possibility of winds gusting as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation was near 40%.
There was a 20% chance of showers expected for the evening, with partly cloudy skies, a low around 30 degrees, and wind calming in the evening.
The weather service expected a mostly sunny day on May 7 with a high temperature around 59 degrees and a 30% chance of showers. Winds were expected to gust between 5 mph and 9 mph in the morning, with the possibility of gusts reaching 18 mph.
